Life-size, Styrofoam sculpture, 1977. Signed Nelson on top of the base. Nelson's work in Styrofoam predates his marble sculptures. His work is in the collections of the Guggenheim, the Walker, and exhibited globally. Roberta Smith of the NYTimes describes Nelson’s work as “the Faberge of Post-Minimalism”. Hirshhorn curator, Howard N. Fox, writes, "The Holos are... as coolly descriptive and deadpan as Chuck Close’s portraits..."
