A rare modernist chess set features an architectural idiom of streamlined sculptural pieces with I-beam shaped bases. Original hanging wood and lucite box included. One side of the set is polished aluminum, the other is a combination of aluminum and ionized aluminum. Designed by Austin E. Cox of Austin Enterprises for Alcoa. American, circa 1962. Excellent condition.
