Holos/Series 6, No 6
Jud Nelson's Holos/Series 6, No 6 (Popsicle), 1978.
Life-size white Carrara marble sculpture. Signed by Nelson on top of the base. One of Nelson's earliest hyperrealistic marble sculptures. His work is in the collections of the Guggenheim, the Walker, and exhibited globally. Roberta Smith of the NYTimes describes Jud’s work as “the Faberge of Post-Minimalism”. Hirshhorn curator, Howard N. Fox, writes, "The Holos are... as coolly descriptive and deadpan as Chuck Close’s portraits..."
